1. Are 19.5"wheels & tires an alternative to converting my SRW truck into a dually?

Commercial-duty tires offer a tremendous increase in stability and safety margin and often negate the need to convert to a dually.

2. Do I need to get a spare and will it fit in the factory location?

Getting a spare is not necessary, however, if the spare is worked into the rotation pattern, then the set will last that much longer. It's not a good idea to leave the spare under the truck and never run it, as the rubber will dry rot and the spare may not be any good when you need it. In most cases, the 225/70R19.5 is the only size that will fit in the factory spare location, although some 245s will fit. We recommend getting a spare if it will give you peace of mind, or if you plan on traveling to Alaska or Mexico.

3. Can I trade in my old wheels?

We no longer take trade-ins of OEM wheels. We recommend keeping your old wheels and tires so that you have a set to put on when you sell the truck, and can then put the 19.5's on your new truck. Otherwise you can sell them. Also, consider converting to 19.5's before your 16's are totally worn out so that they will have decent tread when you sell the truck.

4. Do you sell wheels & tires only, or just the wheels?

We sell wheels and tires and ship them to your door match mounted and balanced. We will sell just the wheels, however, we will not be responsible for any vibration problems that occur due to not properly match mounting and balancing the tires on the wheel. Our Quality Control department measures for both lateral and radial run-out on every single wheel before it leaves the shop. If there is a vibration problem, most assuredly it will be a problem with the tire, not the wheel. You also may want to consider that the shipping cost for wheels with tires is easily offset by the convenience of having the assemblies delivered to your door, and the peace of mind that they have been properly mounted, balanced and ready to put on your truck. Further, you will likely have to pay local sales tax on the tires as well as the cost of mounting/balancing.

5. How do you ship the wheel/tire assemblies and what does the shipping?

All orders are shipped via UPS (except that some 265s and all 285s require truck freight). We wrap each wheel and tire in heavy-duty stretch wrap with double wall cardboard on each side to protect the wheel. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is done via UPS and a freight forwarder. Call for overseas and Canadian shipping information. Consult the separate shipping charges chart to determine an approximation, based on your postal zip code. Shipping generally runs from about $110-$335 within the lower 48 states. Unless you live in Maryland, you will not have to pay the 5% state sales tax. In many cases, the shipping fee is close to what the tax would be if you purchase here.

6. What is the approximate cost of a complete Rickson conversion package?

For a single rear wheel truck, the price can vary from about $2500 - $4000 while the duallies run from about $3500 - $5500. There are simply too many variables to consider to be able to give one "across the board" estimate. You can build your own quote from the quote form PDF, or call or write us and we will be happy to provide you with a written estimate, based upon your selections/preferences.
